Sunny days in Alta and heading north

Calm kayak tour early in the morning...

...to the sourrounding fjords and beaches.

Old fishing-boats sheds. In the old days after fishing, the boat have been pulled up into those houses.

First cloudy day in a while.

Paddling to the 10km distant Kåfjord.

Back in the harbour, the harbour master checked to mourings with a special pontoon (glass bottom), because the big fishfarm ship moved the whole pier...

Going for overnigth hike, starting in Kåfjord...

...following a lovely creek up to the plateau.

Due to one rainy day...

...a lot of different...

...mushrooms shot out of the earth.

In all different colors...

...and different shapes.

Unfortunately, most of them are inedible.

Reaching the high plateau...

...and putting up the tent for the nigth.

Back in the harbour, a lot of work, due to the many mushrooms...

...and blueberries :-)

Back in the harbour, the sun finally started to set in the nigths again :-)

Running up to the Sukkertoppen (900m)...

...where there is the Alta Geophysical Observatory located. They used to study the northern lights here.

Quieter days with new knitting projects.

Ben just arrived and we moved our boat outside the harbour, to be ready the next morning (the entrance to the harbour is only passable during hightide).

Sailing downwind the fjords towards Hammerfest.

The wind are shifting and turning in minutes - adjusting the genoa all the time.

Winds up to 40kn...

...permitted us to go real fast, even without sails up...

Huge LGP tankers outside of Hammerfest.

Heading with the calming wind into Akkarjord.

There is a big double beach...

...connected by a 2km long sandy strecht all over the island.

Endless sand dunes, almost like...

...on the coasts of the mediterranean sea...

...or like in Africa ;-) These are Mongolian camels that cope well with the harsh winters.

Calm afternoon - we head back to get some sleep, because the wind sould shift in six hours, permitting us, to head further towards the north cape.
