Scotland and a short visit on Puffin-Island

The Whaligoe Steps - a man-made stairway of 365 steps that descend to what was a naturally formed harbour between two sea cliffs - once a landing place for fishing boats.

Steep way back up - in the old days the fisherwomen carried the herring 8 miles to Wick

A 200m long sea-tunnel trough an island

In the evening, the search and rescue boat (RNLI) was called out for a missing diver

Four years ago, unfortunately the smaller cruising ships started to visit the islands (60 inhabitants / 200 visitors)

The breeding season for the puffins just started. Still many thousands are missing.
